Médecins sans frontières
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian association. For 50 years it has provided medical help to people whose lives or health are in danger, mainly as the result of armed conflicts, epidemics or natural disasters. Since 2014, we’ve been regularly funding its work to provide life-saving assistance across Africa, Asia and, during the COVID-19 crisis, Europe and India.
CHALLENGE

ACTION
Between August and December 2017, MSF provided refugees with access to life-saving services such as healthcare, water and sanitation. MSF set up 15 health posts, three primary health centres and five health facilities.
Outreach teams were also created to carry out active case finding, make referrals to health facilities for diagnosis and treatment, and organise hygiene and health promotion and surveillance activities.
Beyond the medical response, MSF provided water wells, gravity water supply systems and sanitation facilities in the hardest to reach areas to prevent the spread of disease, reduce mortality rates and improve overall health.
IMPACT
More than 200,000 patients were treated at MSF facilities in only a few months, mainly for respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases and diphtheria.
