Unicef
UNICEF works across more than 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights and help them fulfil their potential, from early childhood through to adolescence. We funded UNICEF in India to support government teachers’ capacity, in Madagascar and China to prepare communities for natural hazards, and in the Philippines to provide clean water and safe sanitation in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

ACTION
UNICEF put water and sanitation at the centre of its response. It worked in 40 municipalities to restore access to safe water, providing water storage and distributing water purification tablets.
It recovered access to sanitation through the provision of toilet slabs and portable toilets. It also delivered hygiene supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, menstrual products and bath and laundry soaps to schools and child-friendly spaces – helping promote good hygiene practices, such as handwashing with soap.
