Mozambique
Mozambique is one of the most impoverished countries in the world (ranked near the bottom on the Human development Index), having emerged from a 16-year-long civil war that ended in 1992. Two decades of peace and stability have enabled improvements in economic development and political stability to be achieved. However, the significant growth driven by the economic management of natural resources has not yet translated into the structural changes needed to support the country’s capacity to reduce poverty and foster human development.
