Context

The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented health crisis of global scale that is putting some of the world’s most advanced and well-resourced healthcare systems under enormous strain. To countries with already fragile health systems, the pandemic poses an additional concern, disproportionately affecting the poor and vulnerable.

When the crisis hit, Cartier Philanthropy provided immediate assistance to its own communities and simultaneously reached out to its partner organisations, granting them the necessary flexibility in terms of use of funds and reporting. We granted additional support to those whose coordinated responses leveraged existing platforms, infrastructures and relationships.

Emergency response

In Togo, Integrate Health has created a community-led low-cost model which combines professional community health workers with improved care in public clinics to make high-quality primary healthcare available to the general population.

We are supporting the organisation’s efforts to minimize the impact of coronavirus in the country, while ensuring the continuity of primary healthcare services in the communities they serve and avoid deaths from preventable diseases.

By working closely with the Ministry of Health in the coordination of activities and by providing critical technical expertise and financial support, Integrate Health’s pandemic response could be an incredible opportunity to accelerate and intensify their goal of strengthening the national primary health system across Togo.
