StrongMinds is a social enterprise focused on treating women of all ages in Africa who suffer from the most pervasive and debilitating mental illness: depression. StrongMinds is guided by an ambitious goal to treat two million depressed African women by 2025, enabling these individuals and their families to lead healthy, productive and satisfying lives. StrongMinds presently operate in Uganda, implementing an innovative, simple, and cost-efficient approach based on group interpersonal psychotherapy a proven technique, supported by clinical trial success in Africa, which focuses on improving the interpersonal relationships of depressed group members. Since commencing fieldwork in 2014, StrongMinds has treated over 38,000 depressed women. More than 75% of these women are depression-free at the conclusion of treatment.
