Our Commitment

Médecins Sans Frontières

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian association created in 1971 by doctors and journalists. The Swiss section was founded in 1981 as a non-profit association. MSF Switzerland has registered offices in Geneva and Zurich. For forty years, MSF has provided medical help to groups of people whose lives or health are in danger: mainly as the result of armed conflicts, epidemics, natural disasters or also due to exclusion from healthcare. All these situations require appropriate medical and logistical resources. MSF maintains complete independence from all political, military or religious powers and claims unhindered freedom in its assistance after evaluating the medical needs of the affected people. The association's independence is guaranteed through its financing, of which 80% derives from generous private donors. Médecins Sans Frontières was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 1999.
