Our Commitment

Jordan

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a upper-middle income country, with a population of 9.5 million, of which 2.9 million are non-citizens. A politically stable country, Jordan has made significant progress in its economic, social and human development in the past decade, despite having limited agricultural land, no energy resources and scarce water supply. Adverse regional developments, in particular the Syria and Iraq crises, remain the largest traumatic events to affect the country. This is reflected in unprecedented refugee influx, in disrupted trade routes, and in lower investments and tourism inflows. Poverty level is on the rise. Public services and infrastructure are overstretched, health centres and schools are overcrowded. According to the Department of Statistics, unemployment soared to 18.4 % at the beginning of 2018, its highest in 25 years.
